Inspection visit in Sofia for Deaflympics 2013,  27 February – 1 March 2013

Wednesday, 27 February 2013
Arrival in Sofia in the afternoon and OC Deaflympics picked me up, so we drove to the hotel,  and I met ICSD hires and OC.
Thursday, 28 February 2013
I went along with Christof Niklaus and Todor Pedev from Bulgaria Orienteering Federation and in the afternoon we drove the car to "Bonsovi polyani",
12 km west of the center of Sofia, where there will be competitions in the long distance and relay. So we drove to "Zapaden Park",
4 km west from the center of Sofia, who must bear the sprint and middle distance. I accepted with the way forests and the terrain is good.
After inspection, we drove to the hotel and we met technical meetings on preparation orienteering in the Deaflympics.
Friday, the first March 2013
We drove back to the airport in Sofia. Departure back to Copenhagen.

Concluding remarks:
My sense Bulgaria Orienteering Federation will do a good job, but it had to prepare ready 4 months before the Deaflympics!
We must update bulletin No.1 our homepage and also World Deaf Orienteering into Facebook after March 15.
But we must remember that we are forever grateful for Bulgaria to save Deaflympics. They make this happen with a very limited budget!
And I must contact them within Deaflympics.  Also I thanked Christof Niklaus and Mark Cooper, because I got inspection in Sofia,
therefore it had to special order orienteering.

Perhaps Hungary will take over as host of European Deaf Orienteering Championships 2012?

We negotiate with Hungarian Deaf Sports Federation for EDOC and EDJOC and date are yet, but it can hold at the end of October or beginning of November.

European Deaf Orienteering Championships 2012 in Italy is canceled!

We received email from AD Trento that a very unfortunate and unexpected letter from AD Trento Orienteering (Organizing Committee) behind European Deaf Orienteering 2012 in Trento that
they had taken the decision that canceled the Championship, despite that in the last two years have sacrificed many volunteer hours and days of the event - including sign new orientation map
of a large 20 Km2 mountainous area, etc. etc.
President of the AD Trento Orienteering Stefano Dematté justify the decision including new unsettled economic conditions. As well as disagreement about the location of the financial responsibility
of the event as Stefano Dematté think FSSI (The Italian deaf-sporting) must assume the event.
Stefano Dematté writes also that they have tried to solve the conflict in the past two or three months and understrenger decision to AD Trento Orienteering will no longer be a partner of FSSI.

The letter from the OC can be read HERE
